The AF4EU project, a European initiative aimed at promoting agroforestry across the continent, is reaching its culmination. UGent-Woodlab hosted the final event on 13 November 2025 in Hooglede, Belgium, marking the conclusion of several years of collaborative work across eleven European regions.

The AF4EU project has focused on fostering knowledge exchange, innovation, and practical implementation in agroforestry. Throughout the project, a range of resources and tools have been developed to support both agricultural advisors and practitioners. Key outcomes presented at the event included comprehensive training modules, a robust knowledge platform, and innovative decision-support instruments.

Among the highlights of the project are:

  • Knowledge Cloud – an extensive database consolidating both existing and newly developed agroforestry materials.

  • Agroforestry MOOC – a series of online modules providing practical training and guidance.

  • Afi-Bus DSS – a decision-support tool designed to facilitate the adoption of agroforestry innovations.

  • ALIVE Handbook – an interactive guide showcasing innovative management practices and sustainable business models.

The final event offered participants an opportunity to explore these resources, see live demonstrations, and engage with successful agroforestry applications from across Europe. This closing gathering underscored the project’s commitment to knowledge dissemination and its contribution to sustainable land management practices.

The AF4EU project’s outputs are intended to support stakeholders in implementing agroforestry solutions effectively, promoting environmental sustainability, and enhancing rural development throughout Europe.
