The first workshop of the Portuguese RAIN was held on the 13th of September 2023, in the facilities of the School of Agriculture in the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB).
The meeting started with a presentation of the AF4EU project by Marina Castro, followed by a discussion of agroforestry extension services, focusing on the inventory and collection of requirements for agroforestry extension services, certification for Consultants in Rural Areas (CECRA), as well as a group discussion on the necessary technical knowledge.
The event finished with a presentation of business models, SWOT analysis, the online course (MOOC), tools for dissemination and training, or the user needs.
At the end of the day, there was a visit to a field visit to the Baldio of Vilarinho de Cova de Lua, a site populated with Quercus rotundifolia (holm oak), which will be grazed by goats for understory management.This visit brought together stakeholders to share personal experiences and information regarding different agroforestry system issues, and promote discussion.
